Privacy Statement

This Privacy Statement explains how the Next Trains app handles information when you use it. We aim to collect as little data as possible.

What the app collects

The app does not require you to create an account or sign in. We do not ask for your name, email address, password, or payment details.

When the app sends requests to the backend API, it includes a randomly generated UUID in the request headers. This UUID is created when the app is first used and is used only to help recognise requests from the same app installation.

The UUID does not intentionally include information about your identity or your device hardware. It is simply a unique value generated for that installation of the app.

How this information is used

The UUID is used only for limited technical and operational purposes. This may include supporting reliability, troubleshooting, protecting the service, and understanding repeat requests from the same app installation.

What the app does not do

The app does not use login accounts. It does not create user profiles. It does not use the UUID to directly identify you as a named individual.

How long the identifier lasts

The UUID is stored only for the lifetime of the app installation on your device. If you remove the app, the UUID created for that installation is removed from the device.

Server and technical logs

Like most online services, the backend or hosting platform may automatically record limited technical information such as IP address, request time, and error details in server logs. This information is used for security, debugging, and service reliability, and is not used to identify you personally unless this is necessary for security or legal reasons.

Sharing

We do not sell your information. We do not share information collected through the app with third parties except where necessary to run, secure, or maintain the service, or where required by law.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA, data protection law may give you rights in relation to personal data, including the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, where applicable.
